Total area of the same material

Hi

How can I calculate the total area of material similar to a project.

For example, ceramics, In my project I want to calculate the total area of ceramics, but I do not want a separate display

Instead, I have only one row show the total area of ceramics.

I would assign a parameter field (or add a project parameter) in the materials to accomplish what you want.

For example use The "Comments" field in the materials and use that to group materials.

Name all your different ceramic types "ceramic" in the comments field. All different plastics you could name "plastic" in the comment field. In your schedule add the "Materials:Comments" field and sort on that. With "itemize every instance" deselected you can now totalize all your different material groups.

If you have lots of materials this can be quite some work.

Thanks for your answer.

I've used Paint Tool,Attach file in my above post.

The way you said I did not give the correct result.

Attached your modified project.

I used both methods (used an existing parameter and added  a parameter)

See the two material take-offs

I hope this is what you need

Sorry for bad formatting. At moment I experience problems with this forum. In the schedule properties. Under formatting check that for field "Material:Area" "Calculate Totals" is selected.
