Student Revit 2013 Help

I am in need of some help!  I just upgraded my laptop to 8GB memory and I'm trying to run the student version of 2013.  I ran both updates and Revit is still lagging, moving slowly, or just crashing.  Here are my computer specs:

OS Name        Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium

Version            6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601

System Manufacturer TOSHIBA

System Model Satellite P755

System Type  x64-based PC

Processor        Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2410M CPU @ 2.30GHz, 2301 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)

BIOS Version/Date     TOSHIBA 2.80, 10/30/2012

SMBIOS Version        2.6

Windows Directory     C:\windows

System Directory        C:\windows\system32

Boot Device    \Device\HarddiskVolume1

Installed Physical Memory (RAM)     8.00 GB

Total Physical Memory           7.91 GB

Available Physical Memory    6.87 GB

Total Virtual Memory  21.9 GB

Available Virtual Memory       20.3 GB

Page File Space         14.0 GB

When I open Revit, this is my memory status:

Available Physical Memory    6.40 GB

Total Virtual Memory  21.9 GB

Available Virtual Memory       19.9 GB

Page File Space         14.0 GB

When I open a Revit file this is the status:

Installed Physical Memory (RAM)     8.00 GB

Total Physical Memory           7.91 GB

Available Physical Memory    6.12 GB

Total Virtual Memory  21.9 GB

Available Virtual Memory       19.6 GB

Page File Space         14.0 GB

I don't know much about computers, but I thought this laptop was a pretty good one when I bought it a year ago.  Can someone look at this and please either tell me to stop trying to run Revit with this configuration because it won't support it or-short of buying a brand new computer-give me some suggestions that might help with this problem.  Trying to do homework at home and not at school and it's killing...Urgh!

Thank you.

8GB of RAM is actually kinda low...I would upgrade to 16GB if possible or more...

check your graphics card too...make sure it is certified to run revit 2013 and it at least a 1.5 GB card
