Sloping Roof troubles

hi everyone, I'm trying to create a sloping roof in Revit using the Create>Roof, Solid>Sweep method
Below are links to some images of what I'm trying to do
Sketch 1 - http://www.geocities.com/simmakkinen/SingleFamilyHome-04.html

Rendering 1 - http://www.geocities.com/simmakkinen/NMFH02_roof1.jpg
Rendering 2 - http://www.geocities.com/simmakkinen/NMFH02_roof2.jpg
(both above are drafts done in Maya)

Rendering 3 - http://www.geocities.com/simmakkinen/SFH02_3D-View.jpg
Iso Plan - http://www.geocities.com/simmakkinen/SFH02_roof3.jpg
(both above from Revit)

I'm using my south facade as a work plane, my 2D path and profiles all interconnect and none of the lines intersect each other yet when I click on 'Finish Family' all I get is a message saying "Cannot make type - Roof 1"
can anyone explain to me what the heck is going on because this is becoming really annoying now I've spent the past 4 days just trying to make a roof that doesn't want to be created

below is also an image with the roof constructed...but after this point it won't let me 'make' the item, I have to discard it :S

I would appreciate any help from anyone as I'm going to be using this as part of my application portfolio to university

thanks for any help

Eddie

Roof > Solid ?? there is no such option.. I guess you mean Soffit ? though there is -no- sweep option there ?? I'm lost as to what methods you've been trying to use.. but I can tell you how to make it anyway. Judging from your pictures and the method you have been trying to use I'd think you want to produce an 'in-place' object. Go to your modelling tab and choose 'create' - choose roofs as the family you're going to make. Then do a simple extrusion or sweep, whatever you like best... If it's got to be like a real roof, without any construction [I presume that the sketch you made is including some sort of construction? it's kinda strange to have it thin on the sides and wide in the middle..] you could most easily do the main roof by 'Roof by extrusion' - draw the arc in frontview and that's all, modify it to the right length by aligning. hope this helps you...
