Sky Background in rendering

Are there any experts out there that might know why my renderings never show the blue sky with clouds? I have set the location and time to midday, selected the "background" in the rendering dialogue box to "Sky with few clouds", and rendered on high and best qualities. I have not figured out why the background always renders as a grey bland background, no horizon or anything.

Could I be missing an image file, or something?

Any help would be appreciated. Example image is attached.

set it on sky> no clouds> clear..
and then it will be blue sky..

but grey sky looks good too- i think..

you might try setting the exposure
to 13.8 instead of the default 14 and
see how you like that..

I have the exact same problem with the gray background. I have tried adjusting exposure and light settings but I have never seen the blue sky.

From the looks of the image I think your problem is you are rendering an
orthographic 3d projection. Try creating a camera/perspective view and then
render. You should get a sky with a camera/perspective view.

That sounds like good advise. I was in 3D Othographic. I will try that and see what happens!

Thanks

BRILLIANT, it worked!. Needed to be in a camera view to get the shy background.

Thank you so much!

Take a look, its attached.

KJFortin-

i think for interiors we almost always need a perspective view..

and of course for aerial views nothing beats the ortho..

but even though the exterior ground level perspective rendered
view is the most popular- and that's the way i render too- i
occasionally have suspicions that a ground level ortho view like
your first image is good too.. in fact i am so impressed with that
ortho view for your first image that i'm thinking i could have been
wrong all along about the exterior perspective being better than
the ortho- i don't think it always is..

that first image- to me- seems warm and charming- it's just
lovely in my mind.. but that second perspective view seems like
just another rendered model..

i guess it's all just subject to what we imagine- but i'm going
to be doing a lot more ground level ortho rendering- there is just
something i like about it..

as far as not having blue sky with the ortho view- that doesn't
bother me.. and i'm sure i could find ways to put a blue sky
there if i wanted it..

3d view half sky.jpgive got the same problem but only half the sky is appearing for some reason

That's because your camera is looking downwards (Target is set lower than Eye elevation), so you're looking at the ground.

Hence the "half sky". Set your Eye Elevation lower and your Target higher.

Revit will only provide the sky/clouds background when you are in a perspective view.  It's a bad practice to switch to perspective using the view cube, BTW.   Always place and drag a camera.
