Roombook Extension 2012 - Error while calculating ceiling elements...

My office is looking to implement the Roombook Extension 2012 for revit as the tool for scheduling so I decided to try it out on a small office renovation. However, when I run the calculation I get this error [see attached image] everytime but only when the ceiling elements box is checked. Roombook calculates everything else fine when 'Ceilings' is un-checked. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

On a side note, Roombook is not automatically generating Revit schedules. I can only export the data via Excel, CSV, or . It happens in any file I open and run the calculations for, any suggestions?

Thanks

It sounds like there is something in your project or system that is causing this error.

To narrow down what is causing this issue, I would suggest going through the following steps:

1. Open the basic sample project (located in the Revit Program folder in the Samples subfolder).
2. Run the Roombook calculations (including ceiling elements) on the rooms in the first level of the sample project. (I tried this on my system and didn't get any errors).
3. If the same error occurs, this would indicate that the error is related to your system and not the project. In this case, check the following: (Note: I would guess that the error will not occur in the sample project, and you can go on to step 4 after verifying that it works.)

    a. Try disabling other add-ins to see if any are interfering.

The following blog posting has instructions on disabling add-ins:
http://revitclinic.typepad.com/my_weblog/2010/05/disable-addins-for-revit-2011-products.html

Note: Since the blog posting was written for the 2011 software, you will need to replace 2011 in the instructions with 2012.

    b. Try disabling other startup programs/services that could be interfering with Revit.

The following document (written for AutoCAD but will work for this situation) has instructions for booting the system into a clean environment:
Starting AutoCAD® in Windows® diagnostic mode
http://usa.autodesk.com/getdoc/id=TS1054234

    c. If steps a and b don't stop the error, you can try reinstalling Revit, and the Roombook add-in.

The following document has instructions on cleanly removing Revit prior to reinstalling:
2012: How to Complete a Clean Install [Uninstall] of Revit products
http://usa.autodesk.com/getdoc/id=TS16828836

4. If the error does not occur with the sample project, we will need to determine what is different about your project compared to the sample project. Here are a few approaches you can take:
    a. Take a backup of your project, delete everything in it, import the sample project, and test for the error. (This will tell us if the issue is related to the project, or the existing elements in the project.
    b. Recreate a similar room from your project in the sample project, and see if you can reproduce the error for that room. (In this case we would want to reproduce the error in the sample project, and then try to determine what part of the room causes the error.)
    c. Create a room similar to the ones in the sample project in your existing project, and if the error does not occur for this room, start modifying it to match the other rooms in the project. (In this case we want to create a room that does not have the error in your project, and then cause the error to occur by modifying the simple room.)

Note: If you want to post a detailed description of the steps you are going through, and you are using Windows 7, I would suggest using the Problem Steps Recorder (PSR). The following webpage has additional information on this tool:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/askperf/archive/2009/10/21/windows-7-windows-server-2008-r2-problem-steps...

Regarding the schedule generation, you did not mention if you enabled the generation of the project data per material, and imported the Roombook schedules, as described in the "Export to Schedule Views" Roombook help topic. After going through these steps, I was able to populate the imported schedules when using the Roombook add-in with the sample project.
