Ribbon behaviour issues

I am running Autodesh Revit 2013 on a Lenova Z580 notebook. Operating system is Windows 8 Pro. There is an issue with how the ribbon functions. An example is if I do a multi-select and then exit that command, and then want to add a component, when I click on component the "Modify/Place Component" doesn't appear - It appears as the previous commands icons (eg "Modify/Select). The only way to get it to show the correct icons is to cycle thru the ribbon view options.

I have tried to delete the UIState.dat file but that doesn't work either. Anybody got any ideas?

Do you have Update 2 installed?  That fixed all the ribbon problems I had with Windows 8 and 2013.
