Revit server model access rights

Hi,

we have setup a working Revit server environment. We will be giving access to the central server to third parties so that we can collaborate. Since there are multiple 3rd parties we would like to restrict access to the models.

The central server is not on the same domain as the local servers.

example

project A is only accesible to us and third party 1

project B is only accesible to us and third party 2

project C is only accesible to us and third party 3

Since the admin console doesn't allow us to do this we were wondering whether we could set access on the directory level.

We would like to know with which account do users or local server get acces to the central server.

kind regards

Daniel

That is not possible.

Revit server use one account.

The only way to manage acces rights is to install multiple Revit Server on different (virtual) servers.

Hopefully on the next version this will be solved.

Also the possibility to give reading acces to a third party would be great.

If there are solutions let me know please.

Thanks for the reply.

I must say that it rather weird that they seem to have forgotten that you would want to set acces rights. Even within the same company it's not unthinkable that not everyone would be allowed to see everything.

It's really odd to me how they could have different servers use the same account.

When you go into the revit logs on the server their they do see which user has done what. I wonder if it is the user who writes to the central server or is the local server that contacts the central server and writes the data.

It is not possible with Revit Server, but it is possible to run Revit Server in Autodesk AEC Vault and control

permissions. Vault is new, a bit pricey, but shows good potential, esp. for large teams who need a central depository

for all the project data, including Revit.
