There are a few things I have found missing from the ribbon as I go through a tutorial, not sure if they are missing by design or some bug or something.
1. There is no massing & site tab, so I can't to a topo surface.
2. Cannot do shape editing of a floor or roof.
3. In wall types, there is no column for if a wall component is structural or not.
4. If Revit is open, no project file loaded (or there is), if I try to open a project from Windows Explorer, nothing seems to happen.
5. If I get an .rfa file from Search, it will not open in Revit. From the tutorial I went through, it was expected to open in an editor.
Can anyone shed light upon these issues?
Thanks,

So you are finding the differences between Revit (or Revit Architecture) and Revit LT.
The LT version of course is a striped down version of the full seat of Revit Architecture.
For Questions 1 & 2 - those Tabs are not available in LT version.
Question 3 - Structural information is also not available in LT version.
Question 4 - I am not sure what you are doing here... You have revit open - are you using the open command and nothing happens?
Question 5 - when you open a family you are not in the editor? see attached image? What are you seeing - can you post an image?

Got it on 1-3.
#4. Most programs will open if a file that is associated with that program is opened from Windows Explorer. For instance, if I double click on a .dwg file in WE, it will open up in Autocad.
With Revit LT 2014, if Revit is closed and I double click on a .rvt file, Revit will open with that .rvt file loaded. But if Revit is already open and I double click on a .rvt file in WE, nothing appears to happen. See "Won't Open" image.
#5. Using Seek, if I find a .rfa file I want, according to the tutorial I was following, I can choose a file to download, tell Revit to open it in Revit, and it should open that .rfa in the family editor. But that is not what happens here. If I tell it to open in Revit, I click OK, then I returns me to my floor plan I was in (in Revit). The component was not loaded.
Now if I tell it to save the file instead, it will, and I can then go load it from where I saved it in the HD. This might be related to #4 above, where Revit is not opening files that Windows is sending to it (or however you would describe this). See images Search 01 - 02.
Someday I'll learn how to do screen videos like they use on YouTube.
