Could someone tell me what parts of the Mental Ray engine the Custom Settings are affecting in regards to photons and final gathering?
In the Direct Illumination Options
Compute Indirect and Sky Ilumination
Indirect Iluumination Precsion
Indirect Illumination Smoothness
Indirect Iluumination Smoothness

I am assuming that in Revit 2012 Custom Render settings that:
Precision is the Photon size/amount
Smoothness is the Final Gather
Bounces is the Final Gather
I'm just trying to understand how the settings from Max translate to the simplified version in Revit.
I asked around and here’s what came back. The basic ‘translation’ from Max to Revit is that many of the Max parameters are bundled together and controlled by a single parameter in Revit. So there is not a 1 to 1 relationship between parameter names in Max and Revit. Perhaps other users may want to chine in?
