Reverting back to 2009

We're consultants on part of a large project team and are relatively new to Revit and find ourselves stuck.

We purchased our first seat as v2009 and didn't imagine the possibility of incompatibility between 2009 and 2010 when we purchased our second seat as v2010. Only when we started sharing (or attempted to share) our information did we discover our mistake and will probably punt several hundred hours creating information that no one else on our team can read or use.

We are wondering if anyone out there have any experience in successfully migrating their way back to an earlier version through the subscription service?

Maybe in a couple of years we will attempt to move forward again to 2010, when more people have adopted that platform. Until then, we're thinking we're better off not moving up or else we may just eat the cost of buying each new version and holding on to the old if upgrading limits compatibility.

Are those several hundred hours more or less costly than the cost of upgrading all of the consultants (including hardware upgrades)? If not, it might be good to rebuild in 2009. I can't think of any easy way to convert. From our experience, 2010 is decent and we definitely won't be going backward but we may have held off a bit until 2010 becomes more stable.

Are you on subscription?
If you are you have the capability to get software up to 3 years back...
if you have 2010 you can get 2009, 2008 and 2007 at no charge.

But this is only if you are a subscription customer.

You can't think AutoCAD and run Revit.
