Solution:

Apply the following solutions in order to resolve the error message:

1. Make sure that Revit 2014 Service Pack 1 is installed, apply it if not and test the Cloud rendering feature again

2. Check if there are any extended characters in the Windows user name (C:\users\<username>). If there are, create a new windows account without any such characters, log in using the newly created account and try using the Cloud rendering feature again

3. The message can sometimes display when attempting to use a file from older Revit versions containing PRC content - if this is the case try first removing RPC content and check if this solves the issue. Then try inserting new and updated versions of the content if available

4. Check the names of the views that you are requesting for render and make sure that there are no special characters contained in the view names (i.e. square brackets, colon symbol, semicolon symbol, etc...)

Bonjour!

Merci!

I am having the same issue. I have not installed service pack 1. Our firm has had issues with this service pack and had to rebuild computers due to the issues it has caused. the file I am currently rendering from was an older version of Revit and has no RCP content in it. I have eliminated all special characters in file names and user names. Before the "upgrade" to Render in the Cloud,I had rendered this file about a year ago with no issues at all now I am. Is there any thing else that can be done other than installing service pack 1? Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance.

Hi there,

Since the writing of the above solution, Update Release 2 for all Revit flavours has been released. If there was trouble with the application of UR1 you may jump directly to UR2 as it contains also all of the fixes that were in the first Update.

Hi there... Since this solution was posted, Update Release 2 for all Revit flavours has been released. If you have no Updates installed on Revit, there is no need to go for Update Release 1 (Service Pack 1) and you can jump directly to Update Release 2.

Make sure you download the correct Update for your Revit flavour.

Hi, after a second revision, I found the problem. It was a ceiling that was causing it. Thanks a lot.

You want to eliminate RPC objects (not PRC).  RPC (Rich Photorealistic Content) objects are based on images and are used to provide realistic content for rendering purposes, without the overhead or bother of creating 3D models.  See more at the Archvision website.

Hi,

I think I'm having the same issue as you because I rendered it once and it worked just fine, but then I added a ceiling to control my lighting, and then it wouldn't render (I got the error message). Were you able to change the ceiling type to fix the problem, or did you have to delete the ceiling?

This may not help.. but using Revit 2016 solves the problem...

If anyone is interested, I had this same problem in Revit 2017. All my views except one would render fine, but one of my views resulted in the "The file could not be translated. -1" error message.

I was able to solve the problem by changing the sub-discipline of the view from power to lighting.

Hope this helps someone in future.

if all the solutions above doesn't work then try the following one:

changing the background setting !

if you set up a transparent background in the render setting then try to change it to any other color / sky !

it solves the problem for sure

it seems more like a bug in revit 2017

If only I had scrolled all the way to the bottom. It was very much this issue for me. After following autodesk recommendations to no avail. I began systematically dismantling my model thinking it was something similar to the RPC issue for another component. However, once all the elements, views, sheets, etc. were gone and I was still getting the error for blank view I found that if I added clouds (even Sky: No Clouds) rather than transparent it worked!

Ironic that if you want to send a render to the cloud, it needs to have clouds?...

Hi,

I am using Revit 2017 to render a view on the cloud. The view was working but then I made a few minor changes in the model and tried to render it again and it started giving me the error code - 1 saying the file could not be translated. What does that mean? it was working just fine a few minutes ago. Please let me know if you have any suggestions on what I should do..

Thank you!
