Recessed Lighting Fixture

Hi All, I trying to create a family for a wall based recessed lighting fixture. I would like the fixture to be recessed but not to disrupt the non placement side of the wall. 1/ I've tried to create an opening but this goes through the entire wall, leaving me to place an extrusion on the backside of the wall. 2/ I've also tried to create a void form but this does not seem to affect the wall host. Any additional ideas? Thanks in Advance, cheers Roger C.

You would need to cut an opening in the wall with a void to prevent the light source from being blocked.  I had a similar post at the link below:

For this, you should be able to create a simple wall based family containing a void.  You could additionally add parameters to control the void size.  Simple example:

I hope this helps!

Thank you,
