I have just started at a new Arch office as their BIM manager and the person that was doing it has told me that opening files from the recent page in Revit has corrpution issues. He also suggest that we should train everyone to always open from the central model and create a new local file every day. I have been using Revit for about 6 years and have never heard this before. Where I was working before we would create a new local once a week because our BIM Manager had a simular thought that the recent files would become corrupt. Any thoughts on this issue for best practices?
I think the need to create new local files will depend on how many people are working on the project, and how quickly things are changing.
General recommendations I have seen is up to 5-6 users for a (file based) workshared file, and creating a new local file each day. If you have fewer users, or less changes occurring you may be able to create new local files less frequently without issue.
I haven't seen corruption that was identified as being caused by old local files, but I have seen local files become unreconcilable with the central file if there are too many changes between the old local file and the current central file.
