Publish Sheets to PDF

I'm trying to figure out a way to print my revit project to pdf. I've been using PDF995, and am also trying CutePDF. Here are the issues I'm running into.

There doesn't seem to be easy a way to print all sheets at once. If I choose "selected views/sheets" and select all my sheets then both CuteFTP and PDF995 try to print each sheet to a sperate file. This would be fine, but the default name for the files is the project filename. I could rename them manualy, but I don't know which is which until they are converted to PDF and I open them up. If I try printing each sheet induvidualy by selecting "current window" it still names the PDF by the project name rather then the sheet name or number.

The secon issue I'm having is that my project contains sheets with different paper sizes. However, it seems that whether I print to a plotter, dwf, or pdf I'm always forced to pick a single paper size. Sheets that do not match this size end up getting cropped or scaled.

I name the files 1.pdf, 2.pdf, 3.pdf and then open them and rename them. It
takes time but that's why we charge the client for it.

As for your second issue, use the Selected view/sheet option in the print
dialog box. Then you can name different groups for your different sheet
sizes. Unfortunetly Revit can't read your mind and automatically print to
the correct size.

IF I AM NOT MISTAKEN YOU WILL SEE THE NAME OF THE ACTUAL SHEET BEING PRINTED TO .PDF IN THE REVIT WINDOW IN THE BACKGROUND. (LOOK TO THE TOP OF YOUR SCREEN) THIS WILL ALLOW YOU TO SEE WHAT SHEET IS BEING PRINTED AND GIVE IT THE APPROPRIATE NAME. I FOUND THIS BY TRIAL AND ERROR WHEN I PRINTED TO PDF. ALTHOUGH SOMETHING AUTOMATED WOULD BE NICER.

I've found the best way using 995 is to use the print to file options. Then
process teh *.prn (*.eps) files using the Omniformat utility. We get a few
rotated sheets doing it this way - but it saves a lot of time renaming
everything.

I still find Acrobat the best sollution all around.

This might be a easy way to print all your sheet into one PDF.

To create multiple pages of dwg sheets in one PDF:
1. Go to Start menu > program files > software995 > pdfedit995
2. In this software window,
a. In the combine/extract tab, select combine pdf files
b. In the autolaunch tab, remove automatically display PDF after printing
c. In the auto-name tab. select option 2 (automatically name doc) (you could change the location of the file, if you wish)
d. That’s it. When you print from Revit, PDF995 keeps adding every sheet on top of the same file name.

To create multiple PDF files with separate dwg sheets:
Use the Burstpdf.exe software that came with signature995/pdf995. It is usually located at: “C:\pdf995\res\utilities” I cut and paste from the PDF995 help file:
“This utility (BurstPDF.exe) will break a PDF into several smaller PDFs of n pages. Paths must be in quotes. The "##" will be replaced by the document number. The final number specifies the pages per new PDF.
Example:
burstpdf.exe "c:\input.pdf" "c:\output##.pdf" 1

BurstPDF requires that Signature995 and the Standard Encryption Module v1.5 or later are installed. Both are free and may be downloaded from www.signature995.com.”

I hope this helps.

I'm using "PdfFactory" which stores all prints in a single file. Never tried
with different sheet sizes but assume that if you pick the largest sheet for
printing, smaller ones will print as well but will have to be trimmed. Of
course, you can also print in separate batches.

sounds like you would prefer a multi-sheet pdf. here's another option:
1. plot sheets to a multi-sheet dwf.
2. open that dwf in the latest dwf viewer.
3. plot all sheets using the cute pdf windows driver.

then check the size of both files. (i always find this the most
interesting)
