when you click raytrace in the options bar it says by camera by default, if you pull down you can select cylindrical or sphere then when you export the rendering you will get the .irv or.pan file type.

Under the view tab, select Render in Cloud

This will then appear

Hit continue and you'll get this menu

Choose panorama, stereo panoram etc along with the other options.

I am using the V-ray plug in so I do not want to use render in cloud. Is there another way to do this?

Under the VRay tab, export the VR scene

VRay VR.JPG

It then exports VR Scene file to be rendered in V-Ray standalone or V-Ray cloud:-
