I would to have a reigon that would basically end up as just an X runnng from corner to corner of a square/rectangle. I have attached what I am trying to accomplish below.
It isn't clear to me if your region is masking something or not. It seems to me that a detail component family that is a rectangle and "X" would suffice. Place it, and stretch its length and width to suit.
If your region needs to masking then it would need to be a filled region and then a detail component for just the "X" placed on top of it.
