How may I produce a costing shedule in Revit if...

... can't use a 2 different types of Units in a Calculated schedule value?

example: Wall Assemblies. Cost = Area * Rate. Area is a "Number" unit. Rate
is a "Currency" unit. Using Area * Rate in a Calculated Value retuns an
"Inconsistent Units" error. Even changing "Rate" to be a "Number" units
format produces the same error. ("Area" and "Number" are still inconsistent
units?)

Any ideas?

Cost = (Area / 1 SF) * Rate

Hey, thanks.
That worked fine.

So, what's the philosophy behind this computation?
Why does dividing the Area (which is already in SF units) by 1 SF
make it compatible with the Rate (currency)?
Just wondering *why* this works, is all...

Your rate really shouldn't be a pure $ figure, but that's the only way
to input it into Revit. Your rate is *really* $ PER (1) SQUARE FOOT,
and you have to manually account for that in your equation.

The formula I gave you above is conceptually more correct as:
$Cost = Area SF * ($Rate/1 SF)

But I don't think I've had luck getting Revit to understand it that way.
So, through the associative properties of multiplication and division,
rewrite this as:
$Cost = (Area SF/1 SF) * $Rate

Regardless, with SF on the top and SF on the bottom, those units cancel
out and you are left with a unitless number and $.
