Your rate really shouldn't be a pure $ figure, but that's the only way
to input it into Revit. Your rate is *really* $ PER (1) SQUARE FOOT,
and you have to manually account for that in your equation.
The formula I gave you above is conceptually more correct as:
$Cost = Area SF * ($Rate/1 SF)
But I don't think I've had luck getting Revit to understand it that way.
So, through the associative properties of multiplication and division,
rewrite this as:
$Cost = (Area SF/1 SF) * $Rate
Regardless, with SF on the top and SF on the bottom, those units cancel
out and you are left with a unitless number and $.
