Historic Revit 2013

The day finally comes, BIM is airborne. It's called "Autodesk Revit 2013". Architecture, Structure and Systems all in one. Congratulations Autodesk.

Thanks for that link.

Here's what it says: "Autodesk® Building Design Suite combines Building Information

Modeling (BIM) and CAD tools". What's CAD tools got to do with Revit 2013?

Also what is "Revit one Box"?

Edit: I don't know anything about CAD..

Revit One Box is what people were calling it during beta testing when autodesk  decided to combine all 3 revit products into 1 revit product before anybody knew that this was only for the building design suite 2013

So do you mean I cannot use all the tools in Revit 2013 without connecting

them to CAD?

These messages in response to the tile of this thread are nuts

and embarrassing and probably intended to wreck it. Just see

if they don't wipe the whole thing out now.

You do know autodesk launched Building Design Suite last year with all 3 revit packages in it that also includes other software like 3ds max design?

There are 2 products available for architectural design:

  • Autodesk Revit 2013, a comprehensive solution containing the functionality of Autodesk® Revit® Architecture 2013, Autodesk® Revit® MEP 2013, and Autodesk® Revit® Structure 2013 software, available in the Autodesk® Building Design Suite Premium and Ultimate editions.
  • Autodesk Revit Architecture 2013, a standalone application

So unless you have either the Premium or Ultimate Building Design suites you will not have access to all three versions from the same package. Hope this helps explain.

Thanks for your reply cvandever.

Please explain how Revit 2013 is only "available in the Autodesk® Building Design

Suite Premium and Ultimate editions"?

I don't have Building Design Suite and I have Revit 2013.

Unless somehow I'm not supposed to be using those system tools that I'm using in

Revit 2013 at this moment unless I buy something else? Right.

edit: In other words, what don't I have now that I might care about getting?

edit: Revit 2013 "containing".. okay fine- what doesn't my copy of RAC 2013

"contain"?

If you currently have revit architecture then that will be the version that you receive. Revit architecture has an excellent tool set but does not include the more specified sets that each of the enginering geared Revit applications have. So as long you do not need to modify a consultants file more than just some basic things then you probably do not need the other versions. You will be able to open their files with Revit architecture.

I have "Autodesk Revit 2013", no Autodesk Revit Architecture anymore.

It contains all three: architecture, systems and structure.

Of course I don't expect this version to be as comprehensive as the

separate programs, but then I don't know that yet either. All I know is

I see the tools and functionality of the two other programs. Plus we all

knew this was coming. This is a bigger deal than anything Autodesk

has ever done with Revit.

The purpose of this thread is primarily to congratulate Autodesk on

fulfilling the dream we have all had for a very long time.

Edit:
