What is the difference between Graphis Cards? Most pc's ship with gaming cards. A high end gaming card cost 600 dollars. A mid range cad card cost 2000. Is there somthing extra the cad cards do over gaming cards?

there are NO special game cards...

the more you pay the faster it'll be. don't buy a 600 $ card... go for an ati x1800... nothing too fancy... or anything in the price range of 200-350.

if you want you can buy a firegl or a quadro, they are optimised for openGL which Revit uses, buy you'll have to shell out more than 600 $.

Go read a bunch of reviews and learn about the chipsets. Its a lie to claim
there are no special gaming video cards. There are video cards that support
specific chipsets for unique gaming functionality such as pixel shaders and
a variety of tasks for animation during game play and so on. Those chipsets
need not be present on a video card developed for CAD applications which
basically output vector graphics.

It is generally acceptable to say then that video cards good for gaming are
okay if not also good for CAD but the same cannot be said that video cards
good for CAD are also by default good for gaming.
