Error message going from Pro Revit to Student Revit

I'm using the student version of Revit.  An architect sent me a Revit file, but when I try to open the file in my Student Version, I get an error saying that Revit can't open the file because it was created in a later version.  Any suggestions????

revit is not backwards compatible never has been many threads on this topic already

you need to be on the same version as the architect or the architect needs to export as a .sat file so you can import it
