I have downloaded the trial revit 8 an I have the following problem:
does anyone know why can't I see the Edit Family button
on the options menu when I highlight a family member in the drawing?

Isn't the revit 8 all about editing family in place?

are you sure you are highlighting a family, and not an in place family? It
shows for me. Try another object, such as a door or window...

I don't have the problem you describe. Please try this just to verify your issue.

1. open revit 8
2. draw a wall
3. place a door in it.
4. pick the door and right click
can you select the edit family choice?

The only thing I can think of is you were trying to chose edit family without a family
highlighted first
If not I have no idea whats wrong.
