do a roof by sketch. then sketch the circle, and make it slope defining. In
the properties of the sketchline, set the segments equal to 0. Finish
sketch. this will draw a smooth dome.

That will make a smooth Cone shaped roof, not a dome. An in-place family with a solid Revolve will make a dome.

oops, yeah what was i thinking?? Sorry 'bout that.

or use the Mass family dome that comes with Revit, and place it in your
project. Then use the Roof By Face tool.
