Detail component

I am trying to put a 2D detail component into a curtain wall door frame (mullion). I can do this in a curtain wall mullion by inserting the component into a profile. Then I can control its visability. I want to do this with the door frame.

I'm a curtain wall detailer also so my heart goes out to you 😄

start a new family template from the Detail Component.rft. Import your
CAD door jamb detail and explode it, save as a Family somewhere that you
can find it. Start another new family template from Profile-Mullion.rft
and make a basic outline of your door jamb. Load the original family
door jamb into the latest one and place it over the door jamb outline.
Make the visibility of the CAD objects Fine and the outline Medium and
Coarse. Import this finished family rfa into your project. Your door
jamb is now available for use in parametric curtain walls at coarse or
medium visibility or as a 2D detail at fine visibility. See attached for
one of my door jamb rfa's

I'm still learning but this is working for me so far. Good luck!
