Cut and surface patterns missing when I load materials from my adsklib

I've created an Autodesk Material Library (mylibrary.adsklib) in Revit 2013 and when I load the materials in a new project, the surface pattern and the cut pattern that I've assigned in the material library to my custom materials are missing. Is there any way to fix that?

The Surface Pattern is an element and saved in the project, and it's not part of the CM Library, so you can not save it in the material library.

The workaround for this issue is:

1. Open the file with the custom pattern you created.

2. Open the file you want this pattern to be used

3. Use the "transfer project standards" to transfer the material

4. Open the custom adsklib (materiallib)

5. Transfer the material to the current project

As it stands this is how Revit functions by default; however the default behavior and the workaround is not always ideal or obvious to the user, so I am including the following link. It is setup for you to submit feature requests, or feedback, directly to our development team:

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=1109794

I encourage you to use the feedback link as our Development group is always interested and would like to hear your feedback directly, since you are better suited to state the business case for a feature request.

I have also notified the development team you have also reported this behavior.

I tried the above workaround and it is not working for me.

The custom pattern is in my project and even then when I import the material from the library it comes up with no pattern.

You will have to delete the pattern in the current project first them import if I remeber correctly. If not it will use the currrent pattern even if you ry to replace it.

Revit 2015 and company materials library still no working. What use is a library that cannot hold the cut and surface pattern? Oh yeah there's a work around for that. Maybe someone can create an API and we can buy it. Or maybe Autodesk can come clean and admit Revit has reach its limits years ago.

*bump back to the top*

In Revit 2017 it seems the patterns are being saved in the library (applause for Autodesk).

I tried the development link and it kicks you back to the Idea Station (here, where i posted the original comment) as Revit is not an available software selection in the list provided.

@thijsschadevanwestrum4688 the work around is to use transfer project standards (TPS) from an .RVT file, to bring in the materials. That brings in all materials and their .pat's. The annoyance is it brings in all materials when you only want a few and you have to purge out the ones you don't want afterwards. That's why we want the .pat's to be part of the mat'l library. 🙂
