Creating Family with Sweep

I am attempting to creating a complex profile of a window frame using the Edit Profile command within Sweep.  It tells me that lines cannot intersect.  How can I draw more that just a simple rectangular profile?

the Path has to be continuos , open or closed but not self intsecting......the Profil has to be a closed shape......

If the Path has an abrupt turning and the Profile is a large one and when it turns does intersect itself the sweep will not be allowed...as in real life when someone try to bend two type of  pipes ,one with a small diameter and one with a large one using the same path
