Control Type: Single vs Double?

What is the diff between Single and Double on the "Control Types"?  i.e. Single Vertical vs Double Vertical or Single Horizontal vs Double Horizontal?

It has been a while since I experimented with these, but if memory serves (it may not), the single flip controls ended up acting similar to the Space Bar, rotating the object 90 degrees with each use, while the double flip controls mirrored the object with each use.

SINGLE CONTROL means symmetry about a point

DOUBLE CONTROL means symmetry about a plane
