Changes to AutoCAD layers when imported to Revit

We have a site plan made up of multiple AutoCAD files. We referened them into one file, then imported it into Revit. While the layers are exactly how we want them in the composite AutoCAD file, in Revit the layers change.

I am looking for any tips on keeping the layers the same when importing them.

You need to give some sort of explanation on how they are changing, for anyone to try to answer this question

Sorry for being unclear.
When we import the AutoCAD file into Revit 2009, instead of seeing the levels from the actual file we are bringing in (which is a composite of many different files referenced in), we see the levels from each reference in that AutoCAD file.

That is basically how Revit works. It will "see" each xref as a separate file and show layers that are on in each xref. Try binding the xrefs into one drawing, setting the layers then, and bringing that into Revit.
