Change lower case word of Shared Parameters to uppercase word

Hello Guys,

I want to change the lower case words in shared parameters to upper case. Is there any way to make such a change in .rfa/.rte/.rvt file.

Thanks

Hello - there is no automated way of doing this that I know of - unfortunately.

Shared parameters are very picky - How they are created is set - no changing/modifying them - you would need to recreate it with capital letters.

If you are thinking about how they display in schedules - you can change titles in a schedule without affecting the parameters.

Not sure if this helps.

You can't think AutoCAD and run Revit.

In the Revit Edit Shared Parameters dialog box, browse to your shared parameter txt file location, make a copy of your shared parameter txt file. One can carefuly open the shared parameters txt file in notepad, then use the find and replace tool (ctrl h) to capitalize your shared parameters one parameter at a time. Save the file in the same place. Close notepad. The browsed window dialog box should still be up from Revit. Click on the file name and open and see the results in the Edit Shared Parameter window.

This process is more efficient and timely than editing your shared parameters from inside Revit.

Autodesk advises against editing the raw txt shared parameters file to avoid file corruption if you modify the content values and position especially removing the parameter identification numbers. So be very careful to only use Notepad for find and replacing the lowercase parameters with uppercase parameters. To date I have not suffered any txt file corruption by following these steps.

You can also google online guid generator, copy a guid (see attached image), use Excel to open your shared parameter txt file, find the shared parameter name that you want, change to uppercase, click on the guid next to it and paste the new guid, click save, go to Revit, modify shared parameters.
