I have need of creating a 12" wide (contrasting) carpet border for an area. The main carpet area will have a pattern. The border will be a complementary solid color carpet.
I attempted to use Create & Divide Parts to do this, but get strange results.
1. Create Parts > Select Floor.
2. Divide Parts
3. Edit Sketch > draw two closed loops to define the part area.
4. Exit sketch - entire sketch shifts to the right by a foot or so.
See attached image.
Suggestions, recommendations appreciated.
Thanks,

Are you using the View Cube, and in a Top View? This is actually a perspective, not a true 2D Plan view.
I have seen odd things like that happen when in a Top View, instead of a Floor Plan View.
That is correct, I was using a 3D view. Why? When I go to the floor plan view and attempt to use Create Parts the option isn't enabled.
Since these are unsuccessful, what other method can you suggest that will get the floor?
Thanks,
Bill
Using Building Design Suite 2013 > Revit
Try using Tiled Views. This way you can see the floor in a 3D view and your Floor Plan at the same time.
Open a 3D View and your Floor Plan View. Close all other views, then select View Tab>Tile from the Ribbon.
Select the Floor in the 3D View, and it will highlight in the Floor Plan.
Make the Floor Plan View active by clicking it. You can now select the floor, and Create Parts. Make sure
the Floor Plan View properties is set to Show Parts.
You can also turn off all other categories except Floors and Parts under VG so you can select the floor more easily.
Hope this helps.
