Make sure that you are Linking the DWG file, and not just Importing it. Linking is akin to Xref-ing in AutoCAD and the file should appear in the Manage Links dialog, under the 'DWG Formats' tab. Importing is the equivalent of inserting a block in AutoCAD - the imported DWG object will retain no connection to the original file.

When you import or link a DWG file into a View, Revit will want to import the contents of that file's Model Space. If imported/linked into a Sheet, then Revit will want to import the contents of Paper Space. From the image you posted, you are attempting to Import/Link a DWG file into a View, but the DWG file does not contain any information in Model Space. If this is not the case, can you post the DWG file here?
