I had a user ask a question I wanted to share with the forums:
Is it possible for a break line to scale with a view?
The break line family is built as a fill region in a Detail Items category and will not change size as a view scale changes. As a workaround you could create several different sizes of the family and interchange them as needed. A quick web search should also lead to a few user-created ones on various other sites.
If you have an alternate approach, please update the thread!
Here is the breakline solution I'm using for the moment. I plan to refine this later on....
Thanks,

NOOB question: Why isn't this a generic annotation that scales with the view scale? I can't imagine using the break line if it reads properly at only one scale.
I'm probably wasting my time experimenting with this, as it seems like a simple solution yet for some reason is not the way the OOTB family is created.
After trying to create this I've run into a couple problems, which may or may not be due to using a generic annotation:
I've attached the family in case anyone with more family creation experience wants to take a look at what I've got so far.
(currently working in RAC 2011)
If there was a line baseb annotation faimly template, thei would be easy.
The examples I posted were created with the line dased detail family template

Rudy: I'm a NOOB to Revit and don't understand your post. You've suggested a scenario where it would be easy to create, but it sounds like that scenario is not available. Am I correct in my interpretation? Do you intend to investigate further? I am stuck at this point.
Yes you were correct in your interpretation.
I'm still looking for a more elegant solution butt this is working for now.

Rudy: Thanks for your confirmation. My first NOOB inclination is to, instead of using the break line, simply use masking regions and keep the sketch line intersecting the linework visible. Since I have done almost no detailing yet, can you tell me if you see any problem with this approach?
