Best way to create a pipe and twists in several non uniform directions

Hello,

How would I best create a pipe that twists in several different directions? i.e.+ it is not all in the same plane. Would I be best using reference lines and then running a sweep along them? Keep in mind there are curved portions of the pipe.

Also, I need to cap the end of the pipe? What is the best way to do this?

Thanks in advance.

Raoul

PS I'm using Revit 2012

I suggest to make a mass helper ( in order to use its edges) for this:

  1. make first a Mass Element : Massing and Site > In Place Mass > Name > Draw-make a contour >Form >Create Form ..Using Voids you can cut the extruded volume so tio obtain any 3d volume you want...You must have in mind all the time that you make this volume only to use its edges as a path for a sweep
  2. Now, back into the project  - Architecture >Component >Model in Place > Family Category and Parameters >Generic Models >Name > Sweep >Pick Path > Pick 3D Edges ( Image 3) >Finish Edit Mode (for path) >Select Profile >Edit Profile > Draw - a circle (Image 4)  >Finish Edit model twice to finish...

Thank you, that looks great. I'll now have to learn to use massing!

Cheers,
