Area plan hatching - stairs

I have furniture as well as staircase elements in our 3d model and try to make the area plans out of it but I have problems with the hatching in revit.
I would like to have solid hatches for the area plans. Especially it looks weird for the staircase of the core where it gives you the impression that the staircase doesn´t belong to the
area of the core. Is there a way to overcome this problem?

There is a fast and easy way to get the solid fill also at the stair location.
You can set the stair and railing to transparent using “Override Graphics in View”.

Please have a look at this small video, it shows the steps in detail:

One small additional comment for 2012, as the video was created for 2011 release.
Instead of using "Transparent" like in 2011, please use "Ghost Surfaces" for 2012 release.
