Just lost 2 hours of work.
Error is recreatable as many **** times as you want.
Start creating a toposurface and once you are done click on FINISH and it WILL crash!
No error, no warrning, nothing, just craches back to desktop. This error combined with Revit's inability to autosave is really really.....(I wish I could swear on this forum).
I managed to create countour lines in CAD and place them in proper heights and then import and convert to toposurface. that works. But I can't modify the bloody thing because it crashes every time I create or modify more than a dozen points.
Temporary workaround is to modify few points, click finish, save and do the same.
Any solution?
Few people are reporting no errors if using default 2013 template, but nothing is confirmed.

I have been able to reproduce the crash that you are describing.
This has been logged with our development group. It is a high priority issue, and I expect to see a resolution in the near future.
In the meantime, I have found that the issue seems to occur when making more than 100 changes within the (toposurface) editor (as shown in the undo history). As you have found, to avoid the crash, make fewer changes, finish, and then edit the surface gain.
I ran into the same problem today as well after spending 2 hours on editing a big piece of toposurface. Now I have to redo all over again... frustrating. In fact, it happened to me before, and I just thought it was a computer issue. Well, guess we have to stay tight and praying for the fix to come soon.
Same crashing issues, so now I edit the surface add some points, save edit, save file, edit surface again, and again.
As Lance pointed out there seems to be a threshold of edits but mine seems to be less than 100.
Please keep me posted. Just lost a couple hours of work to the same problem.
I'm beginning to think that it might be time related crash as well as related to the number of changes.
The other day I had to go on site and left Revit in EDIT TOPO mode for 3-4 hours without actually modifying more than a dozen points. When I came back and clicked finish it crashed.
Hopefully this is being resolved in the upcoming Service pack.
I am having the same problems with other elements like floors and detailed family extrusions. Revit crashes with no warning error or anything after I've drawn about 50 lines then hit finish. So frustrating!!!!!!!!!! I can't make any complicated pretty bits =(
doing modifications bit by bit like everyone else. please fix in service pack!
This issue should be gone with UR1. Has anyone seen the issue after installing UR1?
The following is what I posted to find out if it was me or the Program. So if it is a bug, how do we get someone at AutoDesk to resolve the problem?
My students (and Me) have experienced a problem when creating a simple toposurface. We can start and work our way through the entire process, but when we pick on the "Green Check", to finish the surface, the program just crashes... sometimes with an error message / Fatal Error... sometimes just shutting down and closing without warning. I haven't experienced this with any of the earlier versions of REVIT. We can do a small portion of the toposurface, finish it, save the file, re-open the surface and add a little more and repeat the process until complete... but it shouldn't be this way. HELP
Latest service pack fixes this problem for me.
Make sure you have it installed.
Although I am still a bit paranoid of losing my work so I click finish several times and save rather than doing the topo surface all at once like i previous versions.
