2 finishes, same floor

hello, everyone..
can someone give me a tip on what is the best way to add two different finishes on the same floor, example, bathroom has tile floor, and all other rooms have wood floors... do i insert floors for the two areas independently or is there another way to modify the floor to show the different finishes?
thanks in advance.

Do you want to schedule and/or quantity the different materials or just have
them different for appearance sake?
For scheduling - use another floor as the finish floor on top of the
subfloor that has the proper material for each area.
For appearance only - use the Split Face command to split the material for
each area then use the Material command to change the displayed material
appearance for each of the areas

You need to apply two floors. Insert a floor structure and substrate then
apply a second foor on top with the finish. If you set the substrate floor
to the floor level then the finish would be set to whatever it's thickness
is above that level.

oh i see, if i undertand this right, i can choose two ways i can model the floors for my building. i can either use the floor-family editor and edit the structure,sub-floor-finish of the floor. Or i can actually insert the floor elements such as c-joist-deck- finishes. since we have a structural engineer doing the structure, i think i will use the family editor to model the floors.
thanks alot guys.
