Custom UniformatClassification file

We have noticed that our customized UniformatClassification file caused journal errors. Any idea why is this happening, considering that we are maintaining the same internal structure as the original Uniformat file.

Dear TomislavZigo6013,

I googled for "Invalid uniformat code level code parent" and see some hints.

Are you following the advice given by the Revit wikihelp?

It says "Uniformat codes assigned by R.S.", whatever that may be. Where do your codes come from?

It does not recommend or support edits made to the Uniformat data file provided with Revit. Is yours based on that?

Do you observe the same problems adding the codes manually through the user interface?

If so, have you discussed this issue with Autodesk Product Support?

While Autodesk may not recommend editing this file, it is not the most recent published version of Uniformat, and there are certainly custom Autodesk codes that go beyond level 3. Please see the attached document, which highlights the issue many of us have in using the default file.

The danger of not implementing the updated Uniformat codes, is we are mis-categorizing our models. For example: the cuurent, industry published version of Uniformat version 2010 has this entry, C1030 Interior Doors and the Autodesk /RS Means provided file has C1020 Interior Doors. This is a very problematic discrepancy and is only one example of many.

I talked with the Revit team about this. Unfortunately, I cannot say much more about the situation than that the product team is aware there is a newer version and is considering updating it in the future.
