Cross section _ Profile shape

Hi,

Is it possible to get the profile shape from the Beam/Column family (Cross section).

For Ex: If I use UKB 456x171x74 family type for my ber, is it possible to get the shape as I section?

Is there any direct method is available?

Thanks and regards

Hello,

You can get this family type's geometry data from FamilySymbol.Geometry property.

And then get the face of the column's bottom/top face. The face will return the edges of the column's section shape.

for beam, you can get its start face of the beam, then from this returned face's edges, you can get the beam's section shape.

Hi guys,

I actually started looking at this a week ago. It has been hard, since I have been working on the AU and DevDays conferences at the same time. However, I finally and just now managed to summarise my results, which are quite substantial, in The Building Coder:

Best regards,
