If I want to draw a rectangle relative to some point on my drawing, what's
the easiest way to specify the point? Clicking on the drawing doesn't reset
the relative co-ordinates to 0,0.
thanks

Pressing W will make your next mouse click the working point. You
can then type r for relative and fill in the x and y boxes.
(Click on System in the dialog box to select x/y or polar
coordinates).
