Working with angles from True North

How do you use the bearings function to measure all of your angles from true
north...I need the angle to show 322 degrees from N. How do I do
that...with angle dimensions...
Thanks
Jim

Jim,

Try Tools - Drawing Options - Units - Angles - Orientation: Compass

Is this what you were looking for?

Jim,

It looks like you're going to have to do that on the Edit bar after you place
the dimension.

I've fiddled with that a bit and haven't discovered how to do what you're after
in AS R7, but I would be subject to correction.

You can use polar angle values >180 in the relative coordinates box and the
resulting line will be correct. The edit bar for the line direction will contain
the value you input. But when placing the dimension it subtracts 180 from the
text number. Hmmm.

Interesting question, I hope someone comes in here with an answer. Stay tuned.

Dave,

I tried that but I can't seem to get the program to show angles values >180
degrees. Got a clue?

Harvey,

Ooops. Guess I need to read the WHOLE post. I can get the Edit Bar to
display the angle from north, but not dimensions. Could you understand that
with my foot in my mouth? So sorry.

David,

Apologies certainly not necessary. If you've seen a number of my previous
answers to posts, you'd see I suffer from foot-in-mouth disease myself.

I actually thought you had the answer, but couldn't get it to work. I was hoping
that was the clue.

It's an interesting question. Hunt around yourself and see if you're struck by
God and get an answer. Otherwise, I suspect one would have to change the value
on the Edit bar after placing the dimension.

But maybe the Ozmaniacs will pop in here on Sunday evening with something
brilliant.
