    QuickCAD Newbe with Problems

I an new to CAD have had QuickCAD for a couples weeks now. I was
fortunate enough to have run across this news group and I thought this
group might help me with. I have been trying to draw Isometric drawings
of pipe and have run into several problems.

Problem #1: When I try to place dimensions on my isometric drawing the
lines do not take the same angle as the ISO, rather the end up with the
at an odd angel not suitable for Isometrics'. Is there some way to set
the dimensioning lines to match the ISO.

Problem 2 and 3 are problems that appear to be bugs.

#2 Sometime when I try to save a drawing I get a QuickCAD dialog box
with a big red "X" that says "Invalid dialog box procedure return code."
and I can not save the DWG. I have to Exit QuickCAD and then restart the
    program.

#3 Sometime after immediately after exiting QuickCAD I get a Windows
Dialog box with a big red "X" that says " This program has performed an
illegal operation and will be shut down. The detail box information says
Explorer caused an invalid page fault in module < unknown > at
0000:00c657cd. This only happens after existing QuickCAD.

Has anyone else experienced these type of crashes? Any help would be
    appreciated .

    Henry,

I can only address Problem#1. Try placing the dimension in normal 2D mode and
convert both the dimension and the drawing to isometric view together.

I think also if you use a TT font for any text, that will convert to isometric
    nicely, too.

About the other problems, wait for the pros.

    Henry,

    I can only address Problem#1.

If you REALLY want the dimensions to line up properly in an iso view, you have
    to

    1. choose a TT font for the text (dimension). NOT cad font
    2. place the dimension in the normal 2D drawing
    3. Explode the dimension (Select and choose Explode)
    4. Convert the text to polygons (Select text only, rightclick and convert)
    5. Convert both the drawing part PLUS the entire dimension at the same time to
    the iso view
    6. Select text again and fill it from the Property toolbar with the color of
    your choice.

That's how I would do it in AutoSketch. See if it works for you in QC.

Then you can wonder why a person would do such a thing. You'd think it would be
easier. Imagine doing that to an entire drawing.

Well, maybe a smarter-alec will come up with a short cut. I never found one.

About Problems#2 and #3, you'll have to wait for a pro.

    Henry,

The error messages in #2 and 3 sound like an operating system problem. I
would strongly urge you to contact Microsoft's tech support on this. At the
very least, check their online knowledge base and see what it might have.

Thank you Keith, for your prompt reply. As you have suggested, the
problem may well be an operating system problem but it only happens when
QuickCAD is running or has been run. I have not had this problem when
running other CAD software. (such as TurboCad or AutoCAD) nor when
running any other application programs. That leads me to believe there is
a conflict somewhere between QuickCAD and my operating system, which by
the way is Windows 95. (more on my system blow)

    Machine

    Packard Bell Synera
    Cyrix M II 266 MHz
    48 Mb RAM
    4 Gig HD
    Windows 95

The only thing I can suggest is to try uninstalling and reinstall QuickCad.
Which version of Win95 do you have (Start>Settings>Control
    Panel>System>General tab)?
