This is amazing! I did not get a chance to try Photofly yet but from what I can see thus far, Photofly is clearly superior to Microsoft Photosynth despite that fact that the views at times does look a bit patchy probably because of missing data. In reality, the views in Photosynth are limted to the pictures you took and the views in between are morphed. As most of us can see, the morphed views are dark, distorted and murky. Views between pics in Photofly however appear more like total reconstructions in 3d space where the model can be viewed at any angle with no degration of resolution. Transitions from view to view are smooth and continuous unlike Photosynth.
I believe Photofly will open new doors to Virtual Reality and is probably at the threshold in changing the way the world takes pictures. It goes without say that the potential with this kind of technology for architecture, medical, game developers and Planetary sciences has got to be enormous. There is absolutely no question in my mind that NASA will be monitoring the development of Photofly very seriously.
