zoom extents when adding to map

Each time I use the Basejump plugin to add aerials to my CAD dwg, the dwg automatically zooms to extents of the Basejump data. In my case, I get the entire state of Indiana, plus a little, as my dwg extents. I then have to drill back in to the site where I need to be.
Any way around this undesirable "function"?
Thanks!

Thanks for your suggestion of a user interface improvement we could implement in a future version. I am sorry I don't know of a workaround. ANother team member may chime in with more info.

The VIEW command is handy for setting locations once you define them.
Sample video at http://screencast.com/t/YlHu4fyGoH
This 2 minute Jing video is about 47.8 MB.
The extents is the state of Nebraska.
Have not found a MAP tool to navigate to locations geographically yet.
