I understand that the 2000"I" update has given AutoCAD the ability to use a
merge option that was not there before for the HP LaserJet 4v?
1. is this true?
Before, to plot to the HP4v and get merge, you had to use the hpgl2 driver,
and it looked horrible compared to the regular windows system driver by
autodesk/hdi for the hp4v.
I am looking to use the merge option under the windows system driver by
autodesk/hdi for the hp4v.
2. I have the vip and have the upgrade, but do not want to install it at
this point. If it is true that this "I" has the ability to plot to the hp4v
with the merge option, are there some files I can copy to my current r2000
support/drv directory that can enable my current installation to have this
ability.

thank you, and please email richard.howerton@peh.strand.com
your reply also.

good day..

Richard,

It is true you can enable line merging on the System drivers in AutoCAD
2000i including the LaserJets. You cannot however just copy some 2000i files
to your existing AutoCAD 2000 to get this new functionality as the HDI
version had changed in addition to other underlying items. Once you are up
on AutoCAD 2000i there is a Service Pack on the CD for AutoCAD 2000 to be
able to read PC3 and plot styles from 2000i but it will not be able to do
the line merging or true color that 2000i can.
