Problem With Wipeout Frames When Creating PDF Files

We are having a problem creating PDF files using Adobe Acrobat 6.0 from AutoCAD 2004 drawings that have wipeouts in them. The frame of the wipeout is either printing in solid black or as an outline.
I have created PDF files previously without any glitches. Any ideas?

I believe that the last time this came up there was no answer for Acrobat,
but other "pdf-ers" would work with wipeouts. I am not sure which ones.

PDF and Wipeouts don't go together. Topic discussed often, try a search
here.

Steve,

My wipeouts behave like they are supposed to. I use AcroPlot.

Where i just started working they were having the same problems. Our plotting to pdf process now consists of plotting to an eps file and then some how adobe recognises the file at it's location and converts it to a PDF and drops it into a different folder!!
Wipeouts work fine!!

We use AcroPlot and do have the problem when the wipeouts are not square to
the sheet or with wipeouts that have mutiple vertices. Everything looks
fine when viewed on screen with Adobe 6.0, but when plotting (Xerox510) we
get solid patches where the wipeout is not square to the sheet if there are
any inside corners with multiple vertices. The same problem with xclips.
ANy help is appreciated

One workaround is the obvious one, create a layer, set it to white (actual white, 255,255,255) and move all wipeouts to that layer. Or use acrobat 5.0, it still works with wipeouts, 6.0 and 7.0 don't, well done adobe, manage to go backwards.

Under the Advanced button on the Acrobat Print dialog, check print as image and see if that helps. I am using Version 7 of Acrobat reader. Creating the PDF direct from AutoCAD with a variety of PDF creators did not fix the problem. Using the Print as Image option appears to have solved the problem.

A lot of the time it is actually to do with the print driver you are using.
If we plot the PDF to our Xerox printers using a Postscript driver we get the solid black areas where the Wipeout should be.
If we plot exactly the same file to an HP Printer using a PCL driver, the wipeouts behave correctly.

Try going to your 'Distiller Printer' and looking at the printer properties.
Under the 'Advanced' tab 'Print Processor', try changing from 'WinPrint' 'RAW' to 'WinPrint' 'INGR'.
This worked for me.
