Plotting to an HP5000N using AutoCAD2000

I have an interesting problem. I am plotting to an HP5000N printer. When
printing in model space the prints are fine. However when printing in paper
space the letter "N" only, prints as a rectangle. Now this rectangle appears
when the font resides at 0, 90, 180 or 270 degrees. If the font is at any
other angle it prints fine. I have totally tested various fonts and they all
print the same, with the rectangle shape instead of the letter "N". I have
tested the drawing printing to a LaserJet 4mv and it prints fine.

I am suspicous that either the pen table or the printer itself is the
problem. The 5000N is installed as a windows printing device.

Is it possible that the pen table CTB can be responsible or could it be the
way AutoCAD 2000 prints to the 5000n printer.

Any help or similar situation would be appreciated.

Thank you

One drawing? or all?
One letter "N" or al of them on the drawing?

I would suspect a corrupt printer driver.
Update drivers, or try a different one.

It's a documented bug by HP. It's caused by sending lineweight instructions
that are too low for the printer to handle properly. An solution is to set
the min. lineweight to 0.20mm or greater. This affects HP 5000,4550, 4500,
8000 printers also.
