I have a Cadjet 2 plotter with Autocad 2007 both working ok till the other day when I got the message, invalid I/O type or file name.
When i go into plotter configuration editor, and click on ports it shows my documents is checked. When i try to change it to LPT1 i get the message.
Can anyone please help

Dead printer port perhaps? It happens.
Is there another device using LPT1 by chance?

Hi Dean.

No other device using LPT1. I tried LPt2 & LPT3 but no luck.
If it is a dead port is there anything I can do to get back to using my plotter.

Thanks for any help.

First, determine what all changed on your PC the night before everything
stopped working: most current Windows versions have a system restore
feature, as well as whatever you did to it.

Go into your computer's BIOS and see if your LPT1 is listed as active.
If you truly have more than one parallel port on your PC (not common at
all), you can go into your computer's BIOS and reassign it.

If not, you can still buy Parallel ports I think from computer stores like
FRY'S. I would recommend you take your PC to be reviewed first.
