HP LASERJET 4V, AUTOCADR2000 LINES/MERGE/OVERRIGHT

We have an HPLaserjet 4v.
We are printing 11x17 from autocad r2000.
we have the plotupdates.
we are using the system driver to print from autocad to the hplaserjet 4v.
We are printing with WindowsNT 4.0, SP5

The problem is that there is no lines merge/lines overwright option for
this.
Whichever entities are on top in the draw order will be plotted on top.

HPsetup.exe only works for our HP750c.

any clues on how to get these options on the HP4v???

thanks in advance.

Richard,

The line merge was in the non system HDI driver and HPSetup.exe is only for
the DesignJet plotters using the optimized Windows system driver.

Copy the entire URL below for an online technical document explaining how to
enable line merging in a HDI driver.

"Issue
You want to use the merge control feature in the Internal AutoCAD Heidi
(HDI) drivers.
Solution

The merge control option for the HDI non-system drivers that support merge
control (CalComp and HPGL/2) is in the Custom Properties dialog box.
In AutoCAD 2000, select File > Plotter Manager.
Double-click the device you want to modify.
Select the Device and Document Settings tab.
In the Tree View, select Custom Properties.
Select Custom Properties. The Merge Control option is in the Custom
Properties dialog box.

Note: To get Merge Control with the LaserJet models in the HPGL/2 driver, be
sure you have installed the Plotting Update patch

For merge control to work correctly, you need to check your plotter
configuration settings.
In the Graphics and Vector Graphics section of the Device and Document
Settings tab check the following settings:
Color depth is greater than 2.
255 Virtual Pens (which causes all settings in plot styles except virtual
pen number to be ignored) is not selected.
In your Plot Style Table, enable dithering in the Plot Style. "
