My office is considering upgrading our HP Designjet 800 plotter to the HP Designjet T2300 eMFP.

Does anyone have any experience with this plotter? And how much faster is the T2300 is over the 800 series plotter?

Hi like you we are upgrading our plotter. We currently have a HP design jet500 & are in the process of getting the T2300 eMFP.

I went to the HP office down the road for a demo & was impressed with what I saw. I sent them a PDF file that took approx 7 min at A0 on our current one, the time on the T2300 was down to 2-3 min.

I think the one you are looking at is the one with the PDF capability if not I would suggest it is worth looking at even if more expensive.

As this will be going on our network we had to look at certain security issues & did not foresee any real problems, unlike the Xerox we also looked at which needs its own PC so that would create a lot of issues.

The scan  copy functions were good to & again quite fast. Also you can also just walk up to it with a memory stick plug it in & plot your pdf's from there.

Hope this helps would say worth going to a demo. Just waiting now for ours to arrive.

So we are currently in the same boat of looking into the T2300.  Do either of you have any additional comments now that hopefully you've been able to use your new plotter?

At the moment I still do not actually have it! the wheels grind VERY slowly & I think the order will be raised today so its looking like at least another couple of weeks before I get my hands on it! Just hope the old plotter holds on that long.

We're trying to decide between the T2300 and the Oce 650.  Did you look at other brands of plotters or were you heading HP all the way?

Hi not sure if this is to late to be of use to you.

We finally got the new plotter & have been using it now for about two weeks. So far so good, it is much faster than the designjet 500, but that was purchased in 2005 & things have moved on a lot since then.

I'm very pleased with the quality of the plots, scans to pdf's are good though the files can be quite big.

One thing we have found & it's not the plotter but our network is if you want to scan to your network you are best to create a destination before you install. Having a bit of trouble getting I.T to sort the directory so everyone can access it as I don't have enough rights to do it.

We have installed it on other laptops individually & no problems so far with that part. Again I.T were going to put it on the network tool but said they have problems with large format plotters? Don't ask, still it does restrict the world & his wife from using it!

As regards looking at other multi function plotters we did look at the new Xerox but that needed a dedicated PC which was a stumbling block for I.T re the firewall etc. & to be honest have always found HP to be reliable so it was my preferred choice.

Like the facility that you can do re-plots from the plotter with the push of a button.

So far simple to use & am really happy with it.

Our office has used the HP1050C for many years.  It has been a very trustworthy plotter.  We are currently considering purchasing a second plotter and thinking of the HP T2300.  Can someone answer these question:

1) Is the mirroring setting on the plotter (HP/GL2 settings)

2) Is the HDI driver the same as for the 1050C?
