HP DesignJet "out of memory"

I'm having trouble on plotting some files (DWG's) that have no more than
1Mb.
It appears a message of "out of memory, data lost".
I'm plotting to a new HP Designjet 500 plotter, with 16 Mb of RAM, and the
plotter is configured as a system printer in Windows 98, with the last
driver of HP.
The files I'm plottin are drawings with no more of 1Mb of size, only with
lines, some hatch's, text of shx fonts, very simple drawings.
There is not yet any new driver for Autocad, or any new patch plot update
for these new plotters of HP?
Thanks for any help.

go into your Windows Printer setting for the HP500, and see if you are using your PC memory or the plotter memory. Did you install the 16MB ram on the plotter, or is it factory installed? Can you check the plotter setings on the plotter, and see if the plotter knows it has 16MB ram installed?

Also, TTF files bulk up plot files. What version of AutoCAD are you using? Did you download all the latest patches for it? Have you called HP tech support? They are usually very helpful and responsive, once you get past their phone system.

set the driver to process the files in computer
instead of in plotter. I would also suggest maxing
out the plotter memory
