The HP Universal PCL driver posted on August 31 worked in our office. I finally have full printing capability from my work station.
We had contacted HP when the problem was first encountered and waited on their announcement of any updates (which did not happen).
Thanks for the heads up criagtb!
HP released another driver on 11/22/10.
I've had one user report that this resolved their issue with 11x17 prints.
Here is the current link:
The Operating System field on the drivers home page lists only 64-bit versions of Windows, but the System Requirements tab mentions that it will also work with 32-bit versions of Windows.
Please see the driver page for more information.
EDITED ON 2/4: The driver link I originally posted was taken down and has now been replaced with the new link above. I did not want to leave the old, broken link posted. There will be a follow up post with the new link as well.
Well, things have been OK with the work around posted here in the forum. But, I had to try the new driver anyway... so far I cannot get the new universal PCL6 5.2 driver to install on Server 2003.
Has anyone else had trouble installing the new driver on a server?
I test installed on my win7 workstation without issue, but individual installs are not a desirable way to go... this does appear to fix the printing issue though!
Hello again everyone,
HP has again posted a new driver.
The original link I posted above was replaced; I edited that post to remove the bad link and replace it with the new one.
Here is the new universal 64-bit driver:
While the driver description says it's their 64-bit driver, the system requirements page mention that it works with 32-bit systems as well.
They issued a more recent one last month, so this oldie is gone.
So you couldn't just go to HP and look it up yourself? 20-seconds there got me to here:
In AutoCAD Map 3D 2012 and DWG TrueView 2012 I was seeing a problem printing to the "HP Universal Printing PS (v5.1) driver. When I switched to the "HP Universal Printing PS (v5.3) (188.8.131.5227) UPD Version 184.108.40.20627" driver, everything cleared up. The v5.1 driver did not like the 11x17 prints, but the v5.3 does.
